CVE-2026-46675
Published:September 29, 2026
Updated:October 13, 2026
libpng 1.6.0 through 1.6.58 contains a use-after-free of zlib input in png_read_end. When an application calls png_read_end after png_read_info without reading image rows, a crafted zTXt, iTXt or iCCP chunk can make libpng abandon decompression while zlib still expects input, leaving a stale input pointer; png_read_end then resumes decompression from that dangling pointer (heap use-after-free for zTXt/iTXt, stack use-after-return for iCCP), which can crash the application. Fixed in libpng 1.6.59.
