CVE-2026-6949
Published:July 28, 2026
Updated:August 02, 2026
Samba: TSIG packet with name compression can crash DNS. Incorrect size calculations when a TSIG record contains compressed names cause an integer wrap when the presumed TSIG record size exceeds the packet size, leading to a large out-of-bounds write in Samba's internal DNS server and crashing it. Affects all Samba versions since 4.0. BIND9 DLZ is not affected. Fixed in 4.24.5, 4.23.10 and 4.22.11.
